For the Town of Babylon, Plan & Process is providing the urban design strategies that are part of a larger study by RPA for all of the industrial districts in the Town of Babylon.
Because the range of district types is so large, from conventional industrial parks to mixed-use downtown manufacturing neighborhoods, a “kit of parts” of design interventions is developed that can be can be deployed in different configurations across a broad variety of industrial district conditions. Particular representative industrial districts are redesigned to demonstrate how the toolbox can be used.
At the Hauppauge Industrial Park, in partnership with James Lima Planning & Development, Plan & Process has created the urban design plan for what is the largest industrial park in the nation. A large urban design framework was used to map out some twelve prototype intervention in six categories: Identity, Connections, Innovation Nodes, 21st Century Places of Production, Green Infrastructure and Health.
