Harriman TOD

A new transit-oriented community starts the transformation of a sprawling suburban center.

The site, at the edge of the region’s first ring suburbs, is a bridge between large preserved open spaces including the Harriman State Park lands and the sprawling commercial  “edge city” anchored by the Woodbury Commons outlet mall.  This plan is organized around a heavily used park-and-ride station on the Port Jervis line.  New compact, walkable neighborhoods are linked both to the station and to regional trail networks. Large swaths of wetlands are integrated into the open space plan.   A developer is implementing this plan based on the adopted zoning and design guidelines.
