The Interstate Highway Act of 1956 established an unprecedented road network whose goal was to link the country and facilitate the transport of people and goods. Since that day 50 years ago, local landscapes have been severed and disconnected giving birth to the idea of “the other side.” In 2056, might the country celebrate the 50 year anniversary of an Interscape Greenway Act that not only relinks us nationally but locally to our neighborhoods, parks and rivers?
