The re-grading that was done to support the highway has cut the river off from the neighborhood and made the natural systems discontinuous.

Strategies/Interventions:

The original topography, which sloped naturally from the hills down to the river, is reestablished.
The highway becomes a narrow parkway that follows the topography down to the river. Here it joins with the existing Nonantum Road.
The new continuous park space joins the neighborhoods, the park, and the river.

SUSTAINABILITY AGENDA:

The continuity of natural systems is reestablished.
